The LA4 Nimrod is a highly capable bomber, but like all aircraft, it is highly vulnerable to hostile fighters and anti-aircraft units.

Behind the Scenes Edit

  • The Hawker Siddeley Nimrod was a maritime patrol, electronic signals intelligence, and airborne early warning aircraft developed by the United Kingdom. It served exclusively with the Royal Air Force from 1969 to 2011.
  • The Nimrod is specified as being not only a bomber in "Shattered Union", but one on par with the capability of strategic bombers like the Tupolev Tu-95 "Bear" and the Northrop-Grumman B-2 Spirit. It was never designed or used as a maritime patrol craft. In 2005, the time of the game's release, and 2014, the year the game is set, the European Union's various air forces possessed no strategic bombers at all, only multirole fighters like the Eurofighter Typhoon and Panavia Tornado, both of which can be deployed as tactical fighter-bombers.
